Idiomatic Language is REQUIRED in order to get Band 7-9 in Vocabulary, while it is NOT essential for Band 6.

Idiomatic language does NOT just mean idioms. In fact, idioms are the least common of all the types. Below shows you sentences which have no idiomatic language versus those that do.

Let’s learn about the different types of idiomatic language you can start developing. We’re going to look at 4 main types: Phrasal verbs, Colloquialisms/ Expressions, Binomial Pairs and Idioms. Even though slang is idiomatic, we’re NOT going to cover it since it isn’t really appropriate for IELTS.
